454 problems

Hey everyone. I think my 454 engine deal is about to fall through, which means I'm once again in the market for a 454 and auto trans.

I hear of people buying older Chevy trucks for $500 and taking the engine and trans out of them, and that sounds like a good way to get an engine for a great price, but where do you find these trucks? Any pointers as to where I can look online, or where else to look would be great!
I'm in the Toronto Ontario area, and I canít seem to find anything.

Finding parts

I do run on to deals from time to time like you mention..Not 500 for a 454 but to do that one needs to get out and about specially in the more rural areas and be social so to speak..

If you do that then people will tell you about they saw this or that somewhere and then follow up to find out just what the deal is on that particular item..For example i have been given cars and trucks for free just for hauling them off and cleaning up the area..I have then wrecked them out and sold the parts.

This is harder to do now that we have so many rules and regs and license requirements so I do not do that so much anymore..

Can work tho..

Trucks are a great place to find a big block, but buying a 454 truck for $500 is going to be a tough find. I have seen 454 trucks go for around $700 but not any cheaper. Since the price of scrap has been sky high I haven't seen any cheapie cars or trucks for sale. You might wait until scrap metal comes down, then there will be some deals out there.
