Post 454 turned 396 swap

That 454 turned out to be a 396, I imagine it will be pretty much the same thing. I have an 82 El camino and want to swap out the V6 auto to a 396 auto, emissions are not a concern, will this swap to 396 be fairly straight forward? Thanks.

It kind of depends on what type of vehicle you are talking about. What year/make/model vehicle are we looking at here?

Sorry, got ahead of myself. Its an 82 El Camino with v6 auto, I have a 454 auto that I'd like to swap in, if it's not a major problem. Thanks.

shouldnt be a major problem, i know of atleast two people who have done it.You may have to purchase headers made for that combination, and if i remember correctly, the valve cover on the passenger side is really tight on the heater box , that is if you are running air conditioning. Come to think of it a past episode of crank and chrome did this identical swap, i think, you may be able to surf their sight or email them for some help.
Hope this was some help. Good luck.Have a great day! :-)
