454 Water pump recommendations.

Hi all. I have a brand new water pump on my BBC 454, but it is a stock, cast replacement.

I am looking for a high volume/flow water pump that can be had for a good price.

I replaced the radiator in my 71 Nova with a large one, and the stock water pump does not move water fast enough to be able to utilize all the extra water the radiator is holding (as opposed to a stock one).

The car does not run hot currently, but it is VERY borderline if sitting at a light or in a drivethru for more than 3-4 minutes

Thanks in advance for anything anyone might have experience with and can recommend.

Rob

Flow-Kooler, but a quality hi flow water pump for a BBC is going to set you back at least most of a $100 bill.

Hi Rob, are you sure it's you're water pump because I have the exact same problem, same engine, with a fairly adequate water pump and from what I understand, flowing the fluid too fast will not give it a chance to cool down in the radiator. I'm just pitching this suggestion but I'm not sure if that's all what's keeping that engine from being cool. Again, I myself am struggling with the same situation by idling in traffic in 98 degree weather. It sucks.. but if that does work out for you, let me know what waterpump you used cus I might give it a shot for the hell of it.

My experience has not been good with reman water pumps. I have added water pumps to my list of banned reman components. That list includes brake components, alternators, and starters. Probably comes from China anyway.

I'm running an Edelbrock aluminum pump on a 468 BB in my Camaro. I have a 3-core radiator and the temp was fine last week at idle when the outside temp was 94 degrees (which doesn't happpen often in Buffalo).
