455 in 1937 Buick

Has anyone out there installed a 455 in a '35 to '39 Buick, Oldsmobile, or Pontiac?

The sump is evidently on the front on this engine. So is there enough room to install the engine behind the front suspension & steering members?

Pictures of such an install would be great if anyone has them.

Thanks

I did a 39 Buick with a small block Chevy but put a Nova front clip in it. Do you plan on keeping the original front end? There is a lot of room length wise since they had that long straight eight in them but you should really consider a front clip from a donor car that will accept the 455.In the long run you will be better off handling wise and easier installation.

Looking at the nose on that thing, you could put two 455's in. A Nova clip is long enough?

I'm considering three options for suspension: 1) The suspension upgrade described in the wiki: 1937-1957 BOP upgrade, or 2) Mustang II aftermarket, or 3) Lexus LS400 front suspension. I prefer not to replace the front clip. I'm just exploring if this is a likely engine. Have seen a couple of '37 cars on the web with a 455 installed. The 455 engine is 29" long with the sump on the front. Chevy small blocks are supposed to be 26.5 long. Can you estimated how much clearance is there from the front of your oil pan to the suspension on your '39 Buick?
