Post 460 Ford into 64 Tbird

Does anybody outthere know if this would be a fairly easy swap. I have a good 460 and I would really like to use it but would a 428 make more since? I plan on going to some power tour cruises and maybe some showing off.

You can put the 460 in, there are kits for that but it's still a project. If you have a 428, that would be a breeze, it's a bolt in and it would look all factory.....Decisions,decisions!!!!!.....Have fun!!

I had a 66 tbird ,, 352 , 390,427,428 are easy swaps for that car as all these engines look the same and have the same exterior . A 460 will work but there are more parts available to make the fe engines work well in this body ,,, its rare I discuss fords ,, but I have a weakness for 64 to 66 birds ,,

Hey birdman, The 460 will fit into the car as well as the 428. So the swap with either engine will be about the same amount of trouble. But on the performance end of it I personaly think you would enjoy the 428 better. Factory they have a better respone time and also build more BHP than te 460. And the 428 is easier to obtain hot parts for. You can do a few changes maybe a carb, Headers and hotter ignition and get a good deal of performance from it. Not so easy with the 460. Hope this helps you with you dilima. www.roseman24@hotmail.com

If you already have 460, it will do fine. If you have 428 put it in. Same amount of trouble. If you do have both motors put 428 in. More original.

use the 428 for your engine swap. Many, many, more speed parts for the 428 over the 460. The 428 will come up to power much faster and be more streetable. post picture of your bird when you can. KEEP THOSE OLD T-BIRDS FLYING.
