I have an opportunity to purchase a 460LE that came out of a car with 100,000 miles on it for $200.00. I know it would have to be rebuilt/modified to put into my 1957 Chevy truck which will have a 383HT crate engine. So, this a deal? Or am I better off just outright buying a 700R4 from one of the performance transmission houses? opinions, advice, please.

gm recommends for this trans dont use anything that produces more than 370 lb-ft of gross engine torque. the torque converter has a stall speed of aprox 2300 rpm, it can be used with late model vechiles . the trans controller gm part #12497316 and the gm performance kit gm part #24502513 check with your gm dealer for info . in the gm performance parts book for the 4l60e trans
