45 year old STOCK technology at that...

They're decent for a 300hp build, can be pushed to 350 but it gets radical.

Had some 461's on a 327 in a 66 Chevelle. 2.02's with some port work and the car ran 12.20's. Is there better heads out there? YES but the heads did a pretty good job for what they where.

i'm a great fan of the old fuelie heads..i would go for 462s or 041s.461s dont have p/steering and alt previson holes.very hard to find a good set, probably cost you just as much to recon a set as it would cost to buy some after market heads.still love them tho,not as pron to warp.i have a set of 462s on my 355 chev and it was a big difference in bottom end power from the old 441s.

461 heads

I have had a few 461 castings, I prefer the 462 and the 186. 186's are very reliable and have decent flow with flat top pistons in a 350. My best performance was with 034. I have two sets of 034 left and they work very good on 383's. Really great flowing head for heavy street machine with agressive long duration mech lifter cams. Only problem with 461 heads is the lack of accessory holes. Very difficult to get right brackets for alt and power steering. But I am old Skool (school), REAL muscle cars and hot rods should not have power steering.

i got ripped off once when i brought what i was told were a pair of recon'ed 186s..turned out one was a 186 and the other was a 462..worked well together but lost alot of money on resale..never ran 034s..what the cc rating on them, are they 64cc?

Heads.

The 034 head is a GM over the counter bowtie head. It really works good in larger inch small blocks. One of the very best heads for gen 1 SBC's. they are getting hard to find now. Lot of stock car racers used them up.
