468 Bbc
Please Help,
I built a 468 BBC, cruising the street worked great. First pass down the track I spun a rod bearing. I bought a new crank, rods & pistons, put it all back together and took it to the track. Again, spun bearing. WTF. I don't want to give up so I just bought a Scat crank, should I cross drill it? I forgot to mention, I was using the stock oil pump on both builds. |

Any word from the engine builder as to the cause?
One failure ...OK. Two failures ... I'd be asking questions. Any sign of trash or galling in the pump? Be sure to install and spot-weld a NEW pickup screen, as attempting to clean and re-use an old one (especially a high miler) is a really bad idea. I used to sell Ford reman engines and a new pickup screen was a condition of the warranty. |
