468 build for 500 hp
Hello, I finally decided to build a 468bbc instead of the 496 stroker. The 781 heads i bought of ebay were cracked and poorly repaired. Lucky i found a engine casting number 399289 hi per pass ce 11 with 336781 heads. Tore it all down to find i need a complete rotating assembly. so I swapped of the old 781 heads that i had from the machine shop for these ones and it check out good. I will be installing 2.19/1.88 valve bowl porting any on have any good 500 hp weekend driving only combo never strip driven just wild street fun. my parts list so far are Merlin intake along with a set of procomp intake i will be selling
1 3/4 headers 3in. collectors 2chamber flowmaster 40 series
cam unknown yet
looking at eagle or scat rotating assembly from summit racing
all of this behind a performance built th-400 stage2 shift kit with 2500 stall converter.
29 1/2 inch tire with this combo will be going into a 1970 cutlass A-body that looks somewhat like the chevelles and yah i know but seriously i need good input. my heads or almost complete i need a good recommendation on a dome pistons as well i know the info is a little mis-matched please help. The machine shop were i took my heads are the best around i ask for cam reccomedation he recommended the mutha or big mutha thumper cam.
The fuel you want to run will determine the sort of compression you can run which will determine the cam you can run.
I only recommend rollers for BBC, and I would go with a solid lifter if it were up to me.
Dont buy a converter until you know what cam youre running
Thumpr cams are not a good choice
A-body cutlass will fit 28" tire with out cutting, 29 1/2 will require triming of wheelwell lips at front and back
