I was recently given a 47 ford dump truck, the person i got it from bought it a few years ago with no title. do any of you know of a place I can buy a title ?? and I cant find any numbers on the truck body anyone know where they should be

Buying a title is illegal and is considered fraud by every DMV in the nation. Each state has its own procedures for titling a vehicle that has no title and you'll need to follow your state's rules. It may take a little time and paperwork but at least you'll be legal and won't wind up in jail.

Hmmm, strange... I'd be curious to know how companies like Broadway Title have managed to stay in business all these years. If what you say is true, wouldn't everyone who used them be up the creek?

My understanding is that you sign the car over to them, they title it in one of those loose states like Alabama, then sell it back to you.
You can still buy "historic documents" on the internet. I myself was selling off a bunch a few years ago and had the state contact me. There were no crimial charges and I did everything they asked, including stop selling titles and surrender all the remaining titles.
Now there are title services in many areas that will get you a title and a legitimate one because they know all the channels to go through in your state.


I always suggest going right to your local DMV (preferably before you lay out the cash) and ask them exactly how you should proceed if you are buying and old junker without a title. The are much less suspicious that way.
