47 studebaker truck

I have plans to put a ford 8.8 rear from an explorer donor......behind a 396 and 700r tranny, can anyone comment on my combo?? make suggestions//// Oh yea... I cant find a 9" rear that is 58 inches wide..unless someone can tell me what to look for...Thanks for your input
