Post 48 Chevy 1/2 ton V8 engine placement

I am restoring my 48 chevy 1/2 ton PU. I am installing a must II suspension kit with a 4 link rear suspension.

Here is my question:
I am looking for a Corvette 327 350 hp engine to install in my truck. I have been told that I will have to rework the fire wall to allow the distributer room to breath (so to speak). If this is true how far ahead do I place the suspension and crossmember from the stock placement of the old suspension. How will this affect the cetering of the wheels in the wheel well?
Any advice you can give me would be appreciated.

just did a 50, the engine has plenty of room fore and aft, remember there was a straight six in there originally. used a ZZ3 chevy no distributer problems.

RB's Obsolete sells a motor mount kit that will give you the proper placement.

I just finished setting mine up this weekend on my '49. I used the V8 crossmember from www.brotherstrucks.com I cut it down both the cross member and the ends that it mounts to and pushed it all the way up to the back of the MII crossmember. Since in the middle of your fire wall there is a resessed area the dist. fits fine, just barly though! Need to have your chassis set at the right stance and get the block and tranny level. Also need to check the clearences for your steering shaft to the rack. Also what tranny are you using? Auto gotta make sure it clears the floor of the cab. I need new floors in my cab anyway so I have my engine mounts raised kinda high so the the steering shaft will pass under the engine crossmember. Since it sits higher Ill have to have a little bit of a tunnel in the floor so Iam going with the floor pan kit from B#tchin products. The main thing is to mock it all up before you make anything permanent. I am using a empty dummy block and empty tranny case to make things little easier. Hope this helps let me know if you need anymore help.
