48 Chevy Sedan Hood Release

Does anybody have a good idea for a hood release on this car. I am still in the process of the build but this is something I want to have figures out before I get to it. I do not want to use the ugly cable so I wanted to eliminate it completely. Maybe I could have it rigged up somehow so I can reach through the grill and pull a handle? Any suggestion or has anybody already been through this with their car? Thanks!

On my 41 (basically the same as your 48) I used the Lokar hood and trunk release kit. I think the handles complement the stock e-brake handle and the cables are braided stainless. Check entries 267, 268, and 273 of my journal.

Part number CHT-1300HT

Also available with black housings instead of the stainless steel CHT-1300U.

These are the combination hood and trunk release units like the one I am using.

The single hood release units are
HR-1100HT
and
HR-1100U
