48 ford rat rod truck

Hey got a 48 Ford truck that I am wanting rat and get real low to the ground and was wondering about channeling this truck not sure how to go about it?!Can anybody help me out on understanding this?

Do you care if you go to IFS if you can get it really low?

Go with the independant front suspension and dog leg the rear of the frame is the best way to lower it. That way you get the frame lower and save the room inside the cab that you would lose channelling it. The cab is small enough without running the frame through it.

Here is a quick overview of one way to channel your truck - brace the inside of the cab so it will not change shape when you remove the floor, cut out the floor and body and floor braces under the cab, drop your body down to ride height and re-weld the floor and bracing back to the cab at the higher height.

Here is another way a 46 pickup was done using a donor cab:

48 Ford rat rod truck

Hey thanks for all the info.Thinkin about building my own frame that is z`d and able to hold an I beam front axle.Any advice?

You could build a T bucket frame with your own dimensions for your truck. Check out this link:
