49 - 54 Pontiac help pls

I want to upgrade the front brakes and suspension on my 41 Pontiac.
The 49 -54 takes the same spindle as my 41, so I can upgrade to bigger drums, brakes and cylinders. these years also switched to tube shocks, and I suspect the caster specs moved to a more positive stance.
Can anyone provide alignment specs for the 49 to 54? Frame configuration and specifications? (might be in a shop repair manual). Pictures and specs of the upper and lower A frames? (may be in a parts manual)
I would be interested in buying the entire front end, hub to hub, if anyone has subframed one and has the old parts.

Would that share the frame and suspension of a '49 Chevy? If so, this might help:

49 - 54 Pontiac help pls

appreciate the help grouch, but no. Chevy's top hat frame is completely different. Some of the bushings, bearings, etc. from the same year Olds will interchange, so that might help.

It just so happens that grouch spent a whole bunch of time and effort and scanned his manual for his 49 Olds.

It is available FREE at:

For some reason, I had it in my head that Chevy, Pontiac and Buick shared the same frame and suspension and that Olds was the oddball in the family. If the Olds and Pontiac are similar, then you're in luck and just follow the link home brew posted.

re: 49 - 54 Pontiac help pls

Awsesome, that is exactly what I was looking for. Haven't had a chance to really study it, but first glance, it appears Olds still had the knee shock in 49 whereas Pontiac had already gone to tube shocks.
This is exactly what I was hoping to find for the 53/54 Pontiac. The 53/54 Olds might work too.
With this detail of information, I could figure it out. thanks grouch.
anyone got exactly what I need?
