49 buick front suspension

Does anybody now if the front suspension on a 49 buick is the same as the 49 through 54 chev? I am thinking about installing a mustang II in my buick but there is nothing listed in any of the parts books.

Did you call anyone ??? Just because it isn't listed doesn't mean they don't have it.... Believe me on this one...

suspension type?

The chevies have the front spring upper pockets as part of the crosmember. cut the rivets and the suspension drops out and you have clean frame rails. I scrapped my buick. used the spindles for a trailer years ago and don't remember how the suspension was set up. the 36 pontiac in the shop has a drop out Knee action suspension. the same as chevy, the 36 olds and 37 pontiac have spring pockets as part of the frame rails. If the buick has the spring pockets a part of the frame it's harder to install a M II kit. or spend the bucks to buy a kit with new frame front pieces. then you have to do the bumper mounting, radiator support. etc. I would look at installing a Jag front crosmember under the existing frame. it can lower the car easily. big brakes. etc. . The HAMB forum has picts and info on how a guy used the front and rear jag on his 57 buick. He cut off the spring pockets and boxed the outside of the frame in the spring area. We bought jag front and rears for $ 100 each, we pull. even after a rebuild a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the idea, I never considered a jag set up.
