49 chevy 2dr sedan brakes

I have a 49 chevy car and was wondering if anybody knows the right to adjust the "huck brakes"? Also do I have to pull the hubs on the front to check them? They go to the floor and barely slow down. I was gonna check them first before I bled them. IMO no sense of bleeding them if they need replaced. One more question I would like to put bendix style brake all the way around. What will be a direct bolt on? I know for sure 51-54 chevy paas car will fit. I just wanted to expand my options as to what else would fit. Thanks and sorry for all the questions.

disc?

A lot of times a disc conversion isn't much more than rebuilding your drum system. those chevy spindles are popular for tube axles. check out speedway and note the brake kits for chevy spindles in their t bucket kits/.

Thank you. I will check them out. What about going to bendix style on the rear? What will swap over since thw rear end is still 49? Its my wife car and she wants to keep it stock as possible.

google

There is lots of info on the HAMB site forums, a lot of parts from I think 54 and later with better drum brakes fit and from later pickups will work and you can add self adjusters from later GM parts .. bigger drum brakes from Olds and pontiac can be adapted but that changes wheel patterns, that was popular when changing to An olds-caddy engine, trans, and rear end.
