49 ford

hello ,my name is walt and i have a 49 ford, i have chopped the top, dropped in a 351 stroker motor and a c6 tranny. i am running out of $ and would like to swap the front drum brakes for discs. i am looking for any info on what doner car may be used to do this.i would also like to do power steering i was hoping i would find someone that had done this but so far it seems there isnt.there are many places that sell conversion kits but like i said money is running out.a doner car is needed i would greatly appreciate any info thank you walt.

Without the use of readily available conversion kits (the 49 uses pins instead of ball joints) to mount disc and power steering, I would look at a partial MUST II kit. You can either use the OEM crossmember or just the crossmember from a conversion kit.

The rest (suspension and steering) can come from a salvage yard or donor vehicle. You can mount GRANADA 11" rotors. You will have a rack and pinion.

This is the only low cost alternative I see.

Fatmans make a conversion kit for the shoe box fords for disc brakes. He also has the adapter to use a Volo power steering box with your ford pitman arm. These work great. chero
