496 build for 68 camaro rs/ss

I am wanting information on building a 496 stroker for a 68 camaro, i am wanting to be able to drive it on the street and i am wanting to run a 250 shot of juice, i would like to reach 9's in the quarter mile, i have a 454 marine block and 990 heads what all would i need for the motor to accomplish this?
Any advice appreciated.

if your car weighs around 3600 lbs. it will take about 700hp at the wheels to just break into the 9s. So approximately 875hp at the flywheel minus your 250 shot you will need to make about 625 hp on just the engine.

Dont buy cheap rings. The average $100 ring sets take about 150 shot and no more. Your going to need good heads for 9s.

By golly Jeremiah Smith, nobody can accuse you of not having lofty aspirations and good on ya for not coming on whining like those twin turbo guys. The first thing you're gonna need is a bank account with about 30 thousand dollars in it.

I have seen a few of this type of car in my years of teching at the dragstrip. Every one of them was either turbocharged or supercharged in addition to the juice. I've seen a street car go 7's (six-in-a-row Supra with mucho boost). I don't think it's possible to do what you want to do without some kind of a lung on the motor.

What you do is build an engine you can afford and be happy with the results. If your car is not set up for BIG horse power then there is another expence. Hvy duty EXPENSIVE race transmission and converter along with the suspension and 12 bolt...Dana...9" built to handle it. This doesn't include a roll cage and all the other parts needed to put it on the strip. Better do a lot of research before laying your money down.
