Post 4bbl intake for 1966 Chev 292

I am looking to improve the performance, both power and economy on my stock 1966 Chev PU with a 292 6 cylinder in it (I like 6's). I have been looking at the Edelbrock and Clifford intakes. I want a 4bbl (probably a smally 390-400 CFM for economy) to replace the the stock soup bowl carb. Anybody have experience (or a manifold for sale) with either of these manifolds on an old 6 or other options. also want to know about any legal hassles using the Clifford manifold - with all those "race equipment" warnings on their site.
I am pretty new to this Hot Rod stuff but I have restored a couple old chev's in the past so I can wrench but don't know all the rod tricks. Thanks for any help.

I used a Clifford on a Ford 240 for several years, it worked fine but with out the heat rise from the exhaust it was very cold blooded. I'd use one of the old water heat plates that Ford used if I put it on another engine, the Edelbrock may tie into the exhaust and not have this problem, my catalogue isn't handy. With the age of the vehicle I don't think you should have concerns about the emissions stuff.
