Post 4bbl v 2bbl

My natural reaction has always been go with a 4bbl whenever given the choice, but its usually upgrading from a sucky oem 2bbl to decent aftermarket 4bbl. Why not just get a really good 2bbl? If you only need a 500 cfm carburetor, would it be better to go with a 500 cfm 2bbl or up to a 500 cfm 4bbl, thoughts & comments?

do you want power? 4bbl adds the fuel needed for power compared to a 2bbl.

I left a 2 brrl on a sbc for just that reason. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I am not a racer, but for hwy cruisin and daily usage, it was just fine!

The 4bbl should in theory get better milege because you are only using the primary side,or front half of the carb at lower speeds. A simple way of looking at a 4bbl is its 2carbs in one,the primary that works all the time, and the secondary that works only when extra power is wanted.
