4l60 e

I just bought a 96 chevy 4x4. I am assuming that this has the 4l60E trans??

It is slipping going into drive. It has 150,000 miles on it. I am not sure if it was ever rebuilt but it does not look like it..

I am in the process of re-moving it right now and it seams that the electrical connections on the box that surrounds the shifter arm are glued fast??? Is that normal??? Also it had a P0500 code for a VEH speed sensor malifunction. i noticed a small 2 pin connector at the rear of the trans that was un-hooked. could that be the speed sensor connection??

Keith

you can remove the PRNDL from the side of the trans by taking the 15mm bolt off the shifter linkage along w/the the two 13mm bolts that hold it to the side of the trans leaving the connectors connected. or use a heat gun and slowly heat the connector and at the same time try to wiggle the connector off. be careful not to get the connector too hot, you will pull the pins out of the connector. if you ramove the PRNDL from the trans. be sure to align the neutral marks up and put the trans. in neutral when putting back on.

Apply low heat to soften the glue and pull the connectors out.

Low heat... cig lighter , small torch, electric heat gun . LOW heat!
