4l60 input housing cracked

I have a 1984 4l60 with a cracked input housing. And I have a 1996 4l60e with a good housing. They look identical and fit very well, will they interchange? As well will the pump interchange?

the drums will be the same the input shafts will be differnt 84 should have the 27 spline where as the 60e will have 30 splines count them and see. also the pumps are different. they cant not be interchanged.

they are both 30 spline and both fit into convertor. The only difference I can see is the 96 drum has a check valve on the outside of the flat surface. The pumps are different numbers but have Identical mount holes and very similar internal components.

the 1996 pump will be a 4L60E pump. That will not function correctly in the non "E" trans.. pump cover may have letters ; PWM on it.. will not function in early trans = non "E"

If your trans is a 1984 unit, then at some point it was updated to 30 spline input and related parts.

The drums are same configuration for the most part... the internal of the aluminum drum may be machined slightly different in the snap ring grooves.

Proper setup and checking for clearances of clutch packs and related stuff is needed

the trans is a 86 not a 84. So the later model input will work?

Which trans is 1986? Do you have a 1996 trans or not?

Please be specific so correct answers can be provided
