Reverse Only

Ineed you'r guys help I HAVE A 1990 CHEVEY PICKUP SILVERADO W/ THE 5.7. i HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE 700R4 W/ A 4L60. hERE'S THE PROBLEM: i WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, SHIFTED FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND HEARD A BANG! IT'S LIKE I'M IN NEUTRAL; I STILL HAVE REVERSE BUT NOTHING ELSE. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN IT WILL GO INTO GEAR BUT IT POPS OUT. I HOPE THAT YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME WITH ANY ADVICE YOU CAN SHARE. P.S. HAVE ALREADY INSTALED B&M TRANSPACK INTO IT BEFORE PROBLEM OCCURED.

The 700-R4 and the 4L60 are one and the same, just a new name. Does it engage when you pull the lever into drive, second, or low? The problem has to be with your forward clutch, or more likely your input sprag. There is other possibilities, but no matter, it's gotta come out. Sorry.

Cool still smiling

Serious problems in the forward clutch drum area.

A B&M transpak and this still happened? Was the tranny built by a pro or DIY?

I have given this a lot of thought and I think I know how to fix your transmission problem.

Replace it. A bang is never a good thing.

Sorry dude but thats the reality of the situation. It need to come out.
