4l60e
Hi i have a 4l60e what is the difference in it then a 4l80e is it just the plug is on the drivers side or is there more to it then that there are bouth in a 1996 suburban mine is a 1500 the other one is in a 2500 would it work with my 1500 ?

Physically the 80 is a bigger tranny, the overall length and the tranny mounts are both different, the output is splined differently.
There would also likely be a difference in the PCM between the two, so the easiest way will be to find another tranny like the one you already have, than to convert it over to the 80, IMHO.

By the "Pcm" being different, the shift pattern is reversed. The computer commands for low in one will equal high gear in the other. it will take off in 3rd and "upshift" to first. Not pretty.
