4l60e case defect question

Was curious what you guys thought about this hole in the case. Would it stop you from rebuilding it?

I'm sure you could get that welded back. But if you have a couple extra bucks, I'd buy another rebuilder of CRAIGS LIST and rebuild it. I've never been fond of repairing things with extrra holes. Also, when i look at the picture blown up, it looks like the case is real thin there, or is it my eyes at my age

Yeah the aluminum is real thin there. Can you believe a yard sold this me as tested, working? I was going to bite the bullet and rebuild it but this is getting ridiculous.

Yea, you even have to be careful when you buy on Craigs list. You should be able to take it back to the yard and have them give you another one. I bet they'll say you did that when you took it apart. That is why i use one extra one for parts. In my case, I used three to build two. Don't know why, i had so much fun rebuilding one 200-4r, that i got carried away and built a second one to the extrem. Good luck.

that is the way the case is machined. Do not weld those holes up.

the round hole should have a cup plug with very small hole in it.... that sprays oil on the band

The jagged edge hole should have a check ball capsul installed in it on the servo side..

I second Crosley. They look funny but are definitely supposed to be there.
