4L60E compatibility

I have a chance to buy a 2001 4L60E transmission from a wrecked 2001 Chevy pickup for $550. It only has 6000 miles on it.

I would be putting it into a 56 Chevy with an LS1 engine. Don't have the engine yet. Should I grab it and if so what restrictions would I have on the engine I would need to use? I'm thinking about a low mileage 2000 and up engine when I'm ready.

Also, is there any difference in the pickup version of the 4L60E as opposed to one from a firebird, vette, etc?

Thanks

The engine and tranny will bolt up with no problem. Keep in mind it's computer conrolled so you may want to try to get any harness' that go with it.

the 2001 tranny bolts to the whole engine , including the oil pan of the engine.

The LS1 engine you mention should be good to bolt up.

You will need the correct computer controller for the setup, i imagine you are aware of that

Thanks for the info. Do you think the price $550 is a good deal or just average?

Also, is there a difference in the transmission since it was out of a truck or does the computer control the differences between how it would shift in a truck vs a car?

Thanks

I think thats a pretty good price, I'm picking mine up next tue and it's gonna be $700 with a fresh rebuild. I'm not aware of any differences in the truck and car models, but I'll double check with the guy rebuilding mine and let you know if there is.

The computers may have some different shift points but if the donor truck is a 1/2 ton I wouldn't expect very much difference,,
