4l60E EPC Question

Hi Everyone,

1995 4l60E

Rebult 5K miles ago...this is my towing truck.
I rebuilt it, due to shell failure. New converter, bushings, rebuilt pump, and master rebuilt kit. Currently at 200K miles (5K tranny).

I was having (out of no where!) the difficult 1-2 shift...it wouldn't shift unless I lifted off the throttle.

Looked at the line pressure, and there was no change in preasure at RPM.

Dissconnecting the trans harness, pressure spiked up to 180psi.

No Codes.

OK, decided the EPC was the most logical course of action.

So, in a nut shell, you are up to speed.

With the new EPC the trans shifts 1-2....but at a much higher rpm then it should. About 3K, where there is a 4K redline. It use to shift at 2500.

The line pressure increases with rpm now! So this fixed the problem (or part of it)

So, My question is, is there a reacalibration of some sort with a new EPC??

Thanks
Jim

have you had the truck scanned for codes? from this stand point, you need to have it scanned... you say that from out of nowhere that it started shifting late., im wondering if maybe there might be a tps code... see what you can find out from a scan 1st..

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I scanned for codes (I own a scanner) and nothing came up.

I did replace the TPS already, actually I replaced that just because it was easy to get to, and only $20. So no change with the new TPS.

You unplugged the transmission connector while the vehicle was running? And it did not throw any codes? WOW , never seen that.

Did you run / drive the vehicle with the pressure gauge attached?

With the line pressure spikes with no electrical too the trans, that indicates the treans is getting power.

DOes this truck have a custom prom or flash programming ? Any electronic gadget spliced - piggy backed into the systems?

Check the MAP sensor?
