4L60E no first gear

I have a 1995 Jimmy 4.3 w/ 4L60E transmission. It had been sitting for about 4 months and it has 15000. miles on it. I went to drive it and it did not start out in 1st gear it seems to be starting out in 2nd gear or higher. I hooked up my snap on scanner and drove it around. I have to put the shifter in 2nd are 1st to start off if I leave it in drive it doesnt seem to move very well and I'm afraid to burn up something. I can see on the scanner what gear the trans is in and when I put it in drive after about 20 mph everything seems to work OK, It down shift and up shifts but when I come to a stop the ecm tells the trans to shift to first but it does not.

ANY IDES

First thing i would check is the Speed Sensor.
I had the same problem on my GMC.
Get a voltmeter test that baby out.

I have to replace the shifting cable first then Im going to plug the scanner back in and see if it registers any speed from the sensor. I all so read that there may be a shifting solenoid problem, solenoid A may not be working properly.

depending on Snap-on the scanner you have, you can manually shift the trans with the scanner. This would test each gear range.

Shift Solenoid can be electrically OK , yet not function hydraulically... this will cause shift problems , yet NOT set any codes
