4l60e Rebuild

I have a 99 chevy silverado 5.3 4x4. The tranny made a loud pop going down the road one day and instantly lost R and OD. Slowly after continued driving it has lost all but 1st. Ive been calling around about getting mine rebuilt but they want an arm and a leg for it! I have some experience rebuilding a th400 but have heard alot harder to do a 4l60e. I can get a mega monster-in-a-box with practically everything for $525. How much more would I look at spending on completing this? Specialty tools needed... Things to be careful with... Should I buy new tq converter or just have mine cleaned out? Anything else you can think of? Thanks in advance

4l60e has several items in the valve body that need proper inspection via qualified eyes.

Chances are the drive shell broke the splines in your trans. You should have lost R - OD and 2nd gear. the trans should make the 1 - 3 shift still. Maybe not and more is wrong.

Im 99% sure it doesnt have 3rd anymore ive driven it around town and 1st will hold untill shift point then its like nuetral. Forward and Overrun inner lip seal installer-protector tools, oil pump remover and end play tool, rear clutch spring compressor tool. Are these the only tools i need to look at buying or are there more?
The monster in a box comes with the beast sunshell and sprags

And still the question about cleaning out my converter or having it replaced? Thanks

Monster's site seems to be not working correctly? Couldn't navigate it.
Compare their Kit with this>> http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/produ...&cat=22&page=1 check with Dana, He can put a kit together for you.
I haven't heard any good things about Monster.
The Lockup Clutch in your Converter will probably have plenty of wear & need replacing, so unless you're gonna have it cut open, cleaned & inspected you may want to buy a new one.
You can Fab many of the needed Tools, the Rear Clutch Tool is needed.
Seal resizers, = clamps & Mylar or Coke bottle plastic.
Lip seal tool, = tubing & Piano wire, Feeler gauges.
Endplay tool, modified DS Yoke, or Trans Tailhousing bushing Remover/Installer tool. etc.. can be made or use something else.
This also works as a Output Shaft support tool for endplay:

Rear Clutch tool etc.. :

4l60e rebuild

if you would like to stay in the 500 range budjet build it yourself and you will know what your getting.if you have the time and patience it will be a solid unit and better than anything you can buy pre built for a price like that.i build over 100 of these a year and let me tell you its not impossible for you to do it yourself with good results.i dont sell parts or ship transmissions outside of north carolina and va.im not trying to sell you anything.your welcome to visit my website where i list the majority of the parts and updades that go into my hd replacement/entry level performance 60e thats good for any type use up to 400hp conservatively rated. 70060EPRO,

Read the commercial guidelines. I have removed your web site URL twice from your posts. A third incident will result in a 2 week suspension of your posting privileges

The fact that you build and sell transmissions make you a business owner selling product for profit. You are not allowed to post URL to commercial web sites or promote your business activity on the open forums.

If feel this edit is incorrect, contact Jon via the private message service on this board

I have sent you a PM with the guidelines since it appears you have not read them.

Basically if you own or work for a hotrodding - automotive related company, you can not post contact information on the open forums.

thanks for your attention .
