2002 4x4 4l60e, i recently had the fluid and filter changed and it drove great till a few days ago, it only engages in reverse around 1500-2000rpm and 1st gear engauges the way its supposed to but is slipping. also in park with engine idleing fluid comes out of the dipstick hole? i checked the upper vent and its not clogged. doesnt make any clunks or bad noises, no whining or anything like that. anybody know what is wrong and can help. thx
mileage is 108k and fluid was dirty smelled awful, dark colored,it is showing way overfilled but it only had 5 quarts in it from filter and fluid change. was showing at the cold mark when cold before the trans started slipping.
i figured id try something to se if it would work, i added more fluid and took it for a short drive, it did great, didnt slip and when i pulled back in the yard, i checked the level in park at idle, yes it was overfilled quite a bit but fluid didnt come out of the dipstick tube until i shut the engine off? maybe this could help diagnose it better? yes i know its not good to overfill but im not leaving it overfilled just as an experiment. maybe you guys could help me save a few bucks, thanks in advance..
Thats probly what my mechanic has used, the shallow pan filter.. ill try the deep pan filter and see what happens. Hopefully i havent damaged anything. Ty crosley
