4l60E Teckpak A74741Q

Has any one replaced this valve in the valve body using the Teckpak A74741Q to fix code P1870.
I bought a Yukon that had no reverse with high miles. After reading for one night suspected it was a bad sun gear shell . I were correct in thinking that.
So Im at the end of the rebuild and I keep reading bout this infamous code. I read in other thread that this guy who rebuilds trannys always uses a Teckpak A74741Q to remedy the code P1870 no matter if it needs it or not .
After installing mine it is just really stiff in there . It does not move or slide like the orginal valve did . The orginal valve didnt have O rings on it either. I want to make sure its suppose to be . Im guessing yes since it has multiple O rings and fluids not suppose to get by it.

I just want to make sure I dont want to rebuild this again . I dont have the time or money.

If your thumb is sore after installing the o-ringed plug and roll pin, then it's installed correctly ...it's a stiff spring they give ya.....that valve should barely move when you check it after assembly....it will also improve your lock-up application,it'll be a bit firmer.

This is what I replaced exactly,
Yes it was pretty tuff getting it in there. Unlike the stock piece that just slipped out . This is not my picture. And was borrowed from this great write up.

yea, that kit is a little different from what I use.... thats a good set up you got there.... the kits I use comes with a a spring, and when installed, acts as a semi-blocker rod thats allready incorporated in your kit as part of the valve...That looks to be MUCH easier to install than tryin to compress that spring in the kits I use....and you don't have to use a reamer to re-size the bore before putting the new valve in... nice.
