Hey gents my buddy is having the same prob with his 94 k10 he says his speedo is crapping out, and his abs light is on, the tranny lost 4th, then third and now wont shift out on 2nd, but fluid is still red, and no shavings in the pan and does not smell burned. before he spends $$$ on a new tranny what should we trouble shoot!

Had a similar shift problem but not any speedo or ABS issues, turned out to be a loose connector pin for the 3-4 shift solenoid circuit.

Common issue with 4L60/4L60E transmissions are the 3-4 clutch packs. You'll notice 3rd slipping badly, right before it goes "bye-bye". From then on, the trans will attempt, but will not up-shift to 3rd gear. If you don't have any codes, loose connections, or low fluid, I'd start saving for a rebuild.

You could also rebuild yourself, if you wanted. It's not that difficult. Just takes time for uninstall/tear-down/rebuild/reinstall. I've been doing that most of this year.
