the signals from the speed sensor can produce "noise" that will cause computer troubles if they are not cancelled out. Usually you will see the speed sensor wires are twisted around each other the full distance from tranny on up the harness.
this helps cancel out any electronic "noise" that would cause computer glitches. Could explain the wire in question
