I just completed swaping an Isuzu 4BD2 turbo/intercooled diesel motor in a friend's C1500 '93 chevy pickup, I choose to keep al the sensors from the gas engine hooked up, exept the injectors, (of course) everything is fine but the tranny starts in second gear in Drive position, if I select low manually it starts in first and will work fine from there, it upshifts well and smoothly, maybe too smoothly or could it be the huge torque of the diesel that makes it feel smooth?, I still have issues with the TPS because the injector pump shaft only turns 45 degrees and the TPS rotates 90 degrees, I'm working in a device that drives the TPS off the accelerator rod at twice the rate to achieve full working range, the trans didn't downshift but I belive is the TPS not sensing WOT, as soon as I fix this proble I belive it will downshift at WOT, am I rigth?, the problem that confuses me is why it starts in second?. the TPS voltage at idle is 0.49 volts, it should be in first gear.

this is an update...

I got the TPS working rigth now, I made a gear drive that drives the output shaft at a much faster rate and now the TPS turns the full 90 degrees, I used gears from a R/C car tranny, I got kickdown now but it still starts in second gear, must select first manually, the tranny was working perfect before the swap, please help, any of the moderators out there?
