Now,will the 4L80E from a 1992-96 Caddy Fleetwood bolt up to my Buick or is that caddy using a Chevy engine ?

Is there a conterpart to this modern trans ?

The 4L80E is not in Caddys its only in trucks, behind BBC's and Diesels.

In the 90s GM changed the names of all their trannys to totally confuse the issue. The 3L80 is the same as the old TH400. The 4L80 is an overdrive version of the TH400 and the 4L80E is the electronic OD version. On that basis it is a heavy duty tranny and should be found in trucks like the old TH400 was as JoeyP says.

The 4l80E was also behind a 4 bolt 350 in the 2500HD and 3500.
