4L80e brake

Hi,
I'm now planning my parking brake installation for a street rod project with a 4L80e.

I wanted to avoid running brake cables to rear calipers and I was told that motorhomes had 4L80e transmissions with a brake assembly mounted to the trans tailshaft.

Is this something to consider so I can connect to a gennie or lokar floor mounted emegency brake handle to the trans.

Thank you for your help.........

Look to hummers and HD trucks. They had them.

Hi,

I already have the 4L80e trans.

Does anyone know where I can get the tailshaft that has the mechanical parking brake assembly?

What is it actually called, any pictures, etc.

Thanks again....

The trans-mounted parking brake requires a bolt-on yoke, which requires a different output shaft on the trans. The output shaft is the first thing that goes into the bare case, so you need to completely disassemble the trans to change it.

All of the 2WD out put shafts I have seen on a 4L80E , they are all bolt on style shafts.

The 4x4 shafts are different.

The E brake tail housing design of the 4L80E will require the whole tail housing , brake and yoke.. these parts are all application specific.

This brake assembly is quite large diameter and may not easily fit under the floor of most cars.
