4L80E question

Did a search already but didnt find any answers just thoughts and maybes.I have a 4l80e out of a (cant remmber the year till i get home) chevy 2500 4x4 but want to make it a 2wd for my rod.I have a tail housing but heard the shaft is different length also.If so is it easy swap and also heard about sum seal differences with plates or something.I thought I would be able to just put shaft and tail housing on and good to go?Also does anyone have any recommendations on stand alone controllers for these (smart shift, compushift,ez tcu,us shift ect...)which one works best with least problems(glitches) and do they work with all years of the 4l80e?

You need to remove the complete trans internals to change the out put shaft. Valve body removal is required too.

Make sure you find the correct output shaft for the lubrication circuit. there will be holes in the shaft for oil transfer or not depending on year of this trans

Then : on a 4x4 case, you need to remove a cup plug at back of case, install another cup plug with small hole. This cup plug also has an O-ring on it to seal up against the tail housing. This provides oil pressure to the tail housing bushing.

I do not conceder this a DIY first time inside a trans friendly job
