4L80e Tranny Question

I need to find a stand alone computer to operate a 4L80e transmission....I heard somewhere that some of the old diesel chevy trucks have them....does anyone know the year, make, & model of the trucks that have the stand alone module in it??? Thanks

I can't help with the years at the moment but to get you pointed in some kind of direction if you have trucks to rob, look for the ones with throttle cables - these were mechanical injection. Don't confuse the kickdown cables for throttle.

1991-93 GM diesel trucks. Staring in 1994 the diesels were computer controlled also, so the trans control was integrated in the engine computer.

He's looking for the trucks WITH the computer.

94 ish through 2000 ish. If its a 6.5 turbo with a 4 speed auto, its a 4L80E. The reason they are a good starting point is because they control the transmission, but there are very limited things about the engine that they control.

There is still some significant modification you need to do to the computer, but you can make them work for pretty inexpensively. The problem is programming them.... that's still pretty much aftermarket territory unless you spend about $1000 on EFILive plus hardware

He's looking for the standalone 4L80E computer that was only used in the 1991-93 diesel trucks as I noted above. The 94-up trucks have an integrated engine/trans computer that can't be used in standalone mode.
