Post 4R70W

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the 4R70W tranny. It is an AODE and I don't like the way it shifts at all. It is fine on the street, for commuting but at the strip it sucks big time. It shifts whenever it wants and shifts very smooth, it usually runs out of the powerband and then starts to shift very slowly going even further out. It will shift earlier if your not real hard on the accelerator but I don't know many people that aren't hard on the accelerator at the track. What can I do to fix this? I want the very excessive gear overlap gone. How strong can it be and what do you think of it overall. Can it be a reliable race tranny. Not looking at excessive amounts of power probably under 500. What do you think, any facts, comments, tips would be great. Thanks alot.

The biggest problem with these new mustangs is the pcm. The pcm controls the shifts and detunes the engine during shifts to prevent breakage. Manufactures learned that if they program the pcm to cut engine power during shifts they break less stuff. Not sure how tuff that trans is for handling hp but the biggest robber of power of that car would be its own pcm.
