4t60-e problems

I gotta 93 seville front wheel drive side pan leaks ans tranny will not shift now. need to know how to remove side pan and also what I should check b/c of shifting problems. The fluid that was originally in it was black as night. any help would be appreciated.

If it's black, it's burned. Trans may be hurt bad. Nothing unusual about removing the pan.
