4t60 Trans Question

I Have Built A Sand Car With A 96 Riv Motor And 4t60e Trans. I Am Running A 97 Program In The Pcm From A Gtp That Had A 4t65e Trans. My Trans Will Not Hold Manual Low. It Operated As If It Were In Drive. I Have Checked The Trans Range Selector Switch To Insure The Pcm Is Being Told The Trans Is In Manual Low. All Checks Out. I Am Able To Get The Car To Hols First If I Disconnect The Speed Sensor. Does Any One Know Why The Pcm Would Tell The Trans To Shift Prematurely.

re: 4t60 Trans Question

Mostly 'cause it's programmed for a 4T65E???
All GM trans have a low gear override function that ensured engine life by limiting RPM in manual first. To change this function will require a VERY good valve body tech who has complete hydraulic charts.
No way around it...
