im trying to put a small block chevy 5.3 in my 85 bonnie i would like to know wat size stall and gears should i go with it came out a 2004 tahoe

is this a stock engine or are you planning on building it at all? really depends on what you want to do with it...

Also are you planning on using an OD automatic, or not? This will have a huge bearing on the rear gear ratio...

Anyway, assuming the stock 5.3 and using the tranny from the Tahoe, the stock converter will be tight- but that's not necessarily a bad thing for a stock engine, especially when you consider the cost for a good torque converter opposed to using the stock TC.

If max acceleration is your goal, there will be something to be gained by a slightly looser TC and =/>4.11 rear gears. The stock TC will have a lower stall speed in your lighter Bonnie, especially if the gears are lower (higher numerically).
