Hey guys quick question here. Do you need to have a racing seat with the 2 holes in the headrest area in order to use a 5 point harness?? Could I somehow use a 5 or 4 point harness with my stock seat (no holes in the headrest)
Those holes in a race seat are there to hold the shoulder harness in the proper position..I think you would find using those kind of belts with a stock seat to be a nuisance..
I'd check with the belt manufacturer. It seems like in the event of an accident, especially a roll over, the belts could slip off your shoulders and you would be bouncing around in the car. That's how my brother-in-law was killed in a stock car years ago.
I think that may be why many drag racers with "street-type" cars (with stock seats) put a cross-bar on the roll bar between the uprights, behind the seat back....and then weld a loop for the harness to go thru directly behind where your head is. That way the shoulder part of the harness can't slip off your shoulders.
