5 Star Xtreme 5425 2K Primer
I called a new paint store in town to see what they were about, and asked them to send me a quart of epoxy primer as I am fixing a '56 Dodge P/U tailgate for my bro-in-law.
I told them I wanted to put filler on it the next day, and they sent me 5 Star 5425 & 5426. Well, the tech sheet gives me 24 hours before mandatory sanding, which is too short a window for what I need on this at-home project.
Though I have read a thread here which is positive about the fill and sandability of 5425, I am wary of using this stuff under filler since this product is a hybrid urethane/epoxy. I'm going to use some Omni MP170 from work first, then filler.
I first I was going to return the 5425 and get some polyester primer (gate was severely hammered, I can't believe I got the letters to look as good as they do) but maybe someone who has used this stuff can give some opinions on how it works, how well it fills compared to polyester primer and how well it tolerates being skimmed here and there with polyester putty.
