50 chevy pu fuel tank options

Glad to report that I finially got my truck ( a 50 chevy 1/2 ton pu ) inspected, tagged and almost on the road. I have a fuel tank problem and I'm hoping for some suggestions. My fuel tank is a stock (Behind the seat) tank. It has no leaks and I get no fumes, but I am having to change my fuel filter way too much, junk in the tank. I cleaned out the tank myself before installing it, not good enough. I called the local radiator shop today about cleaning and coating the inside ( $125.00 ). I am looking for some options and suggestion in what other tank would best fit under the bed. If I have to spend $125 maybe I can find something for that price that will work under the bed and get that thing from behind the seat. What have you used ? THANKS

A lot of rodders use a 65 Mustang fuel tank.......repro....

Works with just a little work....
Is your truck still 6V or has it been changed to 12V ?

Fuel level sender is the only issue........

I made my own out of 14 ga. steel. Took a little time but it fits perfectly, holds about 22 gallons and cost about $25 (for the sealer) the steel was left over from another project.

50 chevy pu fuel tank options

Thanks decue and centerline. Decue, I changed it over to 12v, got me a wiring harness from It's A Snap and it worked great. Have you seen those Mustang tanks in a truck like mine, and what kind of work? I know you would have to mount it and make a door but is there anything else. I just put in new Auto Meter gauages, do you know if the sending unit would work. And Centerline I looked at your photos of the tank it looks great but I don't have your skills. Thanks for both of your suggestions, if you have anymore or if someone else has please send them my way, THANKS

I would have it cleaned out....

but not sealed...no need unless it is rusted really bad....have them clean it out and install another filter. The stock tank is fine.
