50 ford rear turn signal help

Hello:
My 50 Ford is currently using the original 6 volt positive Ground electrical system. The car currently has turn signals in the front using a NAPA lever with one Flasher. I need to connect the rear tailights to work also as turn signals. I was hoping that someone could explain how to do the kookup. As of now i have only been successful in having the rear lights work as Flashers when I flip the Turn signal lever.I must have done something wrong when trying to do the hookup Please help

re: 50 ford rear turn signal help

Doc here,

Need more info on your Turnsignal system and the bulb setup for the 50 ford..

First, Tail lamp / Flasher combo will not work..It must be Brake lamp / Turn Combo in order to be correct..(The brighter elements)

Your Napa system should have a wire for the brake lamp switch output that goes into the switch..Then the Turn signal should have a Right Rear, and left rear output..these will install at the Brake lamp wires now existing..

Turn-signals and Brake lamps MUST be isolated left to right or else every time you step on the brakes the signals will stop, OR if you have a common point through the brake lamp wire, (left to right) every time you turn one on , all 4 will flash or both rears (depending on how configured)..

How many Bulbs do you have in the tail lamp buckets? how many are duel element, how many are single element?

Locate the diagram for your aftermarket switch and post back with the wires/Colors..Or scan it and post it.

Doc
