51 chevy coupe

i am converting a 51 coupe. ive read that s-10 rear ends will work for the convert. does any one know if a rear end from a newer trans am will work? ive aquired a rear end and just from measuring the both of them, the t/a rear end is 4" wider than the original. after mounting, would some thing like negitive mount rims work out or am i wasting my time ?

4" is a bit of a diffrence. Gen II Camaro's/ Firebirds are bolt in swaps, also '55-'57 Chevy rear ends.

Hint; be more descriptive in the title of your posts. Let the reader know a little about what you want to discuss and you will get a lot more play. Giving all your posts the title "51 Chevy coupe" may bet people interested in 51 Chevy coupes to read it but few others. A title like "What rearend fits a 51 Chevy coupe?" will foster a lot more interest.
