i need to wire my truck, there is no wiring in it, there is nothing fancy in the interior, i was wondering what type of harness i should buy. what brand of harness is good, and simple. and maybe one with a few extra circuit so i can add some other stuff later like a heater. the truck is a low budget hot rod.

E Z wire makes some good harnesses,Just pick out the one with the number of circuits you need.They are simple and good quality.I have installed several in different vehicles.

If you are still looking for a fuse panel for your '51, I would suggest Affordable Street Rods' Wiremaster kit. They have a couple of different options as far as the number of circuits, so you can choose which would be best for your application. And, yes, they are affordable. As mentioned in my latest book, Automotive Wiring: A Practical Guide to Wiring your Hot Rod or Custom Car, I have used the Wiremaster kit from Affordable in multiple vehicles. Those include my '29 Model A Tudor, my former daily driver '51 Chevy truck, and a '27 Ford Track T roadster. I showed the bulk of the install on the Track T in that book. Also included was an install of the vehicle specific kit from Painless Wiring in a '68 Chevy truck. Either of those kits are great in my opinion.

However, a downfall of the Painless kit is that it includes wiring for power doors, power windows, and lots of other options that may not be necessary for some vehicles. It is fine if you need/want them or plan to install them later, but if you know you don't need them, it makes the price of the kit significantly more expensive.
