518

check pump flow, remove or loosen rear cooler line start engine move shifter to reverse or drive fluid should leak.did you replace converter and if so it can be air locked how much fluid did you get it to take? did you air check the drums, and your last chance is the overdrive section broken snap ring or roller clutch installed backwards.

518 help

I did replace the converter. The first time I added fluid it took almost 12 quarts. When I put it back in the second time it took less fluid than what I drained out. as well as the third time. What do ou mean by check the drums?

When you replace the rubber sealing rings on the apply pistons, its a good idea to "air check" their movement inside their respective drums in the trans. If you rolled over or somehow tore a rubber seal, the piston will not hold fluid pressure and will not apply the friction/steel packs. There are also "air checks" for the seals on the input and or stator shaft to verify that they sealed properly too.
